All I can say about Avon - I love them! When I was in high school my girl classmates and I were always scrolling through the catalogs (there was always one around!) and ordering lipstick that didn't match our skin tones xD Ah, the good old days..
A month or more ago I accidentally stumbled across some add on the net featuring Avon, so I decided to give my high school memories another go. I found a local Avon lady over an advert and made my first order. It was right around my last birthday. So far, I have more skin care products than makeup, and I can't believe how well they improved over the years. And so did their prices, but I think the quality of the items allows in, never the less. Some products are still there ever since my teen years and I was so happy I could order them in a matter of seconds and get everything I wanted (and could afford) in 5-6 days. I'm lucky I live in the capital city at the moment :) And there's one thing I would like to mention; and that's the reason why I like ordering my cosmetics from catalogs - it's because I like the thought of purchasing items that someone didn't opened, smelled, played around or even tried on their own skin before me! This happens quite a lot in most of drugstores here, it really irritating and disgusting. I'm not saying someone didn't mess with Avon cosmetics before my order, I just think it happens more rarely than in Kozmo, DM, Bipa or other drugstores here..
So, I decided to review some products for you, despite of my big wishlist and more product that are ordered and still coming.
My first order consisted of:
True Color Quad eyeshadow palette in Pink Sands,
True Color Blush in Russet and
Nailwear Pro nail polish in Blue Shock. I'll be reviewing the first two since the polish is bad - it's not too opaque and stays shortly on my nails, so I don't really like it.
The Pink Sands quad palette consists of 4 pearly neutral-warm shades: light pink, blush pink, caramel brown and greyish brown. I love this palette! It's awesome for a simple yet elegant day look and the colors look amazing on my blue eyes. I prefer shades like these and I think everyone can wear them, despite your skin tone or eye color. The packaging includes a black minimalistic box (I keep all the packaging boxes, cause it keeps the items secured better), the black plastic container with a big mirror and a dual sponge applicator. I find the last two details really useful, esp the applicator because it's firm, thick and adsorbs the pigments quite well. The price is 60 kn (11 $) I don't know how many grams you get in this palette since it doesn't say on the packaging. Weird...
The swatches:
(under artificial light, night time, with flash, NO PRIMER)
(under artificial light, night time, with flash, WITH PRIMER)
As you can see these are pearls shades, with a solid pigmentation, but you WILL need a primer for these babies to show their true color. Like the name says :) I use Essence I Love Stage eyeshadow base since it's affordable and does the job perfectly. Also, these eye shadows don't have a fallout. You will have some particles flying around in the container since it's black and it makes it extra visible, but no other cons are included.
The next item is True Color Blush in Russet:
This is one of the most pigmented blushes I ever had. The shade is MATTE, so it's a big plus if you're searching for a day coraly-orange-brick blush that doesn't have any shimmer in it and will look good all day long. I got this one as a bonus in my order: it's original price is around 12,5 $ (69 kn), but I payed it 1 kn since my order was +90 kn. So this is the cheapest item in my beauty case, but one of those definitely worth having. As I said, it is REALLY pigmented and you will need a super light touch to get a small amount of it on your brush for a subtle day look. I use my Bourjois kabuki brush to apply it. The packaging consists of a black minimal box, just like the eye shadow palette, the container with 6 g of product, a large mirror and a smally applicator. The last one in not useful at all since it leaves a thin straight line of the blush no matter how much you blend it, so I recommend using a bit bigger brush.
The swatches:
(under artificial light, night time, with flash. L - heavily applied, R - blended)
Don't let the shimmery particles on my swatch fool you - it's a 100% matte blush and these particles are just leftovers from the eyeshadow swatch I did few minutes before taking the last photo. The blush has a powderly texture so it does have some fallout, but only with the smaller brush in the container. As I mentioned; I advice using a larger (flat) kabuki brush for the best results and application.
Next, I have some skin care product to show you.
The first two are foot skin product - Beach Treats Sea Salt Foot Scrub and Heel Softening Cream. They really do the job, esp the heel softening cream which really softness them :) I have problems with hard skin down there and I need to do a whole bunch a rituals before going to bed everyday so I don't wake up with more damaged skin than the day before. They come in tubes of 75 ml and 100 ml and both of the products are thick so I suppose I'll be using them until springtime! I bought them together on forum.hr for 30 kn (6 $).
Also, how cute is the Heel Cream packaging? :)
Next we have 2 Planet Spa products, Dead Sea Minerals Exfoliating Body Scrub and Mediterranean Olive Oil with Orange Flower Soothing Eye Treatment. I heard only good things about this skin care line from Avon, and since I just ran out of this kind of items in my collection, I ordered them last week and got them yesterday.

OMG, this is the BEST body scrub it the world! Well, at least the best body scrub I ever tried. The scent, the texture, the packaging, the feeling it leaves on your skin - all are perfect and I am very pleased with it. I was thinking of ordering the Olive Oil scrub, but I got this one in the end. Good for me! Too bad I can't explain how good this thing is.. The Soothing Eye Treatment is actually a lighter eye cream. It has a texture of a gel-fluid and it absorbs quite fast, leaving hydrated skin and a healthy shine for a few hours after the application. It doesn't flatten out visible wrinkles (is there any product like that except Botox lol?), but it nourishes the skin and that was something I really needed since the skin around my eyes looks tired in the evening because I wear a lot of makeup and use quite a bit of products. I got them as a package for 79 kn together (around 14,5 $). The body scrub tube holds 150 ml of products and the eye treatment tube hold 15 ml of product.
I'm still waiting for a cleansing face mask which should have came with the last order, but it was out of stock. I hope the reason was the awesomeness of the product :D I also have a whole bunch of Avon's products on my wishlist, but I won't be bothering you with them for now.. Hope you like these reviews guys.
Tell me - do you order cosmetics and/or makeup from Avon? What are you favorites? Do you have some products to recommend?
Update 05.09.
